Confined Space Safety Training
Immersive VR + Desktop + Mobile + Web Training
Preparing workers for confined-space operations — without exposing them to real-world hazards. AuraInteract developed an interactive 3D confined-space training simulation that places learners inside a realistic digital environment, supporting both vertical and horizontal confined-space entry and exit scenarios and combining guided learning, interactive procedures, hazard awareness and assessment across VR, Desktop, Mobile and Web platforms.
The Challenge
Confined-space operations involve multiple safety-critical procedures where a missed check or incorrect decision can create serious risk. Traditional classroom-based training can explain procedures, but it is difficult to recreate the physical environment, restricted access, hazards and decision-making involved in confined-space entry and exit. Organizations needed a way to allow workers to prepare for confined-space operations safely.
- ✕ Understand confined-space hazards before entering a real environment.
- ✕ Practise entry and exit procedures safely.
- ✕ Learn the correct sequence of safety checks.
- ✕ Understand permits, risk assessments and PPE requirements.
- ✕ Practise gas detection, ventilation and attendant communication.
- ✕ Demonstrate knowledge through practical and theoretical assessment.
The Solution
AuraInteract developed an interactive 3D confined-space training simulation that places learners inside a realistic digital environment. The solution supports both vertical and horizontal confined-space entry and exit scenarios, combining guided learning, interactive procedures, hazard awareness and assessment. The training workflow covers pre-entry preparation, permit verification, risk assessment, PPE selection, gas detection, ventilation, communication with the attendant, entry, work activities and safe exit.

Training Journey
Permit & Authorization
Learners understand the importance of obtaining and reviewing the required confined-space entry and work permits before entering the space.
Risk Assessment
Learners are introduced to key risk controls including gas detection, ventilation, PPE, communication, trip/fall prevention, hydration and emergency/rescue planning.
PPE Selection
The learner verifies that the correct PPE is available and being used for the confined-space entry and work activity.
Entry Preparation
The simulation guides the learner through preparation, documentation checks and interaction with the confined-space attendant.
Confined-Space Entry
Learners practise both vertical and horizontal entry scenarios, developing familiarity with different confined-space access conditions.
Work Inside the Space
The environment can represent activities such as welding, grinding, gas cutting, electrical work and painting.
Safe Exit
Learners follow the required exit procedure, communicate with the attendant and complete the applicable entry/exit record workflow.
Assessment & Completion
Learners move from guided training to independent testing and knowledge assessment before completing the training.

Reduced Physical Setup Dependency
Digital simulation can complement physical training environments and provide additional practice.
Stronger Safety Culture
Repeated practice reinforces safety-first behaviour before workers enter real confined spaces.
Training Modules
Training Mode
Training Mode acts as a virtual instructor. Learners receive step-by-step assistance while performing required confined-space procedures. It helps them understand the workflow, learn safety procedures, identify equipment, practise entry and exit, repeat difficult steps and build confidence before independent testing.
Voice-Over & Visual Guidance
Voice-over instructions provide contextual guidance while the learner performs each activity. Visual guidance reinforces important procedures through highlighted objects, directional indicators, step prompts, equipment labels, on-screen instructions, safety warnings and hazard indicators.
Testing Mode
Once learners understand the procedure, Testing Mode reduces instructional assistance and requires them to perform the workflow independently. Learners demonstrate that they can follow the correct sequence, complete safety checks, select appropriate PPE, follow entry procedures, identify hazards and perform safe exit procedures.
MCQ Assessment
The practical simulation is complemented by Multiple Choice Question assessment covering confined-space hazards, entry requirements, permits, PPE, gas detection, ventilation, communication, emergency procedures, attendant responsibilities and safe entry/exit.
