VR Crane Safety & Rigging Training
Immersive Safety Training for Crane Operations & Rigging — VR + Desktop + Mobile + Web Case Study
Preparing workers for lifting operations — before they enter a high-risk work environment. AuraInteract developed an interactive Crane Safety & Rigging Training solution that allows workers to learn, practise and demonstrate safe lifting procedures in a controlled virtual environment. The solution combines immersive 3D simulation, voice-over instruction, visual guidance, hands-on training, practical testing and MCQ assessment.
The Challenge
Crane operations and rigging involve safety-critical decisions where incorrect equipment selection, improper load handling, or a missed safety check can lead to serious incidents. Traditional classroom training can explain these concepts, but it provides limited opportunity for workers to physically practise a lifting workflow, identify hazards and make decisions in a realistic environment.
- ✕ Understand crane and rigging safety principles.
- ✕ Identify appropriate PPE and rigging equipment.
- ✕ Understand lifting hazards and safe working practices.
- ✕ Practise equipment inspection and preparation.
- ✕ Learn correct rigging and load-handling procedures.
- ✕ Understand safe lifting zones and communication.
- ✕ Recognize unsafe conditions before a lifting operation begins.
- ✕ Demonstrate practical competency through independent testing.
- ✕ Validate theoretical knowledge through MCQ assessment.
The Solution
AuraInteract created an interactive 3D Crane Safety & Rigging Training simulation designed to transform safety procedures into an immersive, hands-on learning experience. Learners enter a realistic crane and lifting environment where they can explore equipment, follow guided procedures, interact with rigging components and practise the correct sequence of operations.

Business Outcomes
Safer Training Environment
Workers can practise crane and rigging procedures without exposure to an actual lifting operation or workplace hazard.
Better Practical Understanding
Learners interact with equipment and perform procedures rather than learning safety rules only theoretically.
Consistent Training
Every learner can follow the same structured training workflow, helping standardize safety instruction.
Repeatable Practice
Learners can repeat procedures without requiring access to an operational crane or physical rigging setup.
Improved Hazard Awareness
Immersive simulation makes unsafe conditions and lifting hazards more visible.
Knowledge + Practical Assessment
Testing Mode and MCQs provide both practical and theoretical assessment opportunities.
Scalable Workforce Training
The same training content can be deployed through VR, Desktop, Mobile and Web.
Reduced Dependency on Physical Setups
Virtual simulation complements classroom and practical training with familiarisation and repeated practice.
Stronger Safety Culture
Repeated exposure to correct procedures reinforces safe behaviour before real-world lifting activities.
Training Modules
Learn by Doing — Training Mode
Training Mode acts as a virtual instructor. Learners receive step-by-step instructions while performing the required procedures. Interactive prompts help them understand what to do, which equipment to select and how to complete each stage safely. Learners can repeat challenging activities until they become familiar with the correct workflow.
Voice-Over Guidance
Contextual voice-over instructions guide learners throughout the simulation, explaining what needs to be checked, which equipment should be selected, what safety procedure should be followed, what hazards need to be considered and what action should be performed next.
Visual Guidance
Highlighted equipment, directional indicators, step-by-step prompts, equipment labels, animated demonstrations, safety warnings, hazard indicators, interactive object feedback and on-screen instructions.
Testing Mode
Once learners complete the guided training, they can enter Testing Mode. Instructional assistance is reduced so the learner must independently demonstrate the correct procedure. The assessment can evaluate PPE selection, equipment identification, pre-use inspection, rigging preparation, safe lifting workflow, hazard identification and safe working practices.
MCQ Assessment
The practical simulation is complemented by a knowledge assessment using Multiple Choice Questions. MCQs can evaluate crane safety principles, rigging safety, PPE requirements, lifting equipment, rigging accessories, equipment inspection, load handling, safe lifting practices, hazard identification, communication and work-zone safety.
